After Hours, On-call coverage is available by calling (315) 457-9966.
For medical emergencies, please call 911. If an Emergency Room visit is necessary, we recommend the Pediatric Emergency Room at Upstate/Golisano Hospital. Please notify our office the next business day if your child was seen in an after hours facility.
If you need help with a serious medical issue after hours, call the office and leave a message with our answering service. The message will be forwarded immediately to the on-call healthcare provider, who will address your concerns and, if necessary, direct you to the proper medical facility. If you do not receive a call back within 20 minutes please call the service again and they will see that you get through to a Provider.
This service is for emergency situations only, and should never be used for routine calls such as appointment cancellations or prescription refills.
Examples of serious problems include injuries, difficulty breathing, persistent vomiting and diarrhea (after a few hours), dehydration, gastrointestinal bleeding or possible poisoning. Seizures, persistent fevers over 101 degrees Fahrenheit in a child less than three months old or over 104 degrees in an older child, abdominal or chest pain that is severe and sudden, a sudden bad reaction to a medicine or a sudden bad reaction to an insect sting should also be reported immediately.
Between the hours of 11:00pm - 6:00am, calls are sent from our answering service to Strong Memorial Pediatric Triage in Rochester. These are clinically trained nurses that handle calls for our office overnight. If needed, they can reach the on-call provider. The office is then faxed a transcript of the call taken as well as advice that was give.
For after-hours calls on weekends and holidays, calls are handled as mentioned above.
Emergencies
In case of serious, life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately. Always ask that your child be taken to Golisano Children's Hospital at University Hospital.
